Pressure Canning with Rosie and LoveJars

Soup and Sourdough: A Perfect Pairing

As the winter months are drawing in, this is the ideal time to try out some hearty soups, dals, and broths. Soups are the ultimate nourishing comfort food to tuck into in this colder period. Quick and simple to make they are fabulous at any time of day. Sourdough is the perfect accompaniment for soaking up flavourful broths and adding an extra tang to your soups.

We know that life can get busy and it can be easy to reach for those simple tinned soups at the back of the cupboard. The wonder of pressure canning is that you can make and seal your soups up to 5 years ahead of time – meaning you can fill your cupboard with your own homemade delicious meals full of nutrients!

LoveJars

We’ve teamed up with the wonderful Rosie at LoveJars. Based in Leicestershire, LoveJars specialises in preserving and pressure canning equipment as well as running Rosie’s Preserving School where you can learn how to make your own preserves. Rosie has generously provided Club members with 22 pressure canning online workshops. As you will learn, pressure canning is a method of preserving food in a sealed container by using pressure to create a high-temperature environment that kills bacteria, yeast, moulds, and other microorganisms that can spoil the food. Rosie’s workshops will teach you how to do pressure canning from the comfort of your own kitchen. Once preserved they do not need to be chilled or frozen so it is a very economical solution.
