Why is Akkermansia muciniphila one of most coveted microbes in the gut?
One of the reasons we include polyphenols in every bake and throughout our botanical blends, is to nourish Akkermansia; be it with a blackcurrent preserve on sourdough toast or through the addition of figs. Including polyphenols is one of our core principles. We all want to host a certain level of this gut microbe.
Akkermansia is a gram-negative bacteria and was discovered in 2004, as the sole human representative of the family Verrucomicrobia. Ever since it has been found to be associated with positive health benefits.....
