This simple and delicious Sourdough Caramelised Apple Cake is a real crowd pleaser. Ideal for cosying up with a cup of tea in the autumn and winter, and it can be adapted to make it more of a festive treat! I share possible variations with different fruits and flavourings to suit various tastes – it's a really versatile cake that can be enjoyed all year round. It's great drizzled with honey and served with cultured cream to add extra sweetness and sourness to the caramelised flavour of this very moist and light loaf cake. The chopped nuts on top add a glorious crunch. It's amazing that something so easy to make can offer so many textures and flavours. If you manage not to eat it all at once, it'll last for several days in a tin.
