———————————————————————————————–
This is the baking session. We chat about baking topics and suggest recipes, and you get all the tips here. Sessions are run either by Vanessa Kimbell or if Vanessa is teaching or away Claire steps in and runs the clinic. She is Vanessa’s Classroom assistant and is brilliant.
You are invited to submit any questions about your baking in advance by Wednesday morning and we will try to include answering the question in the session.
When is The Club’s Live Clinic?
On Thursday at 7pm (London time) in term time we will run the Club Clinic. This is a 45 minute session. Term-Time Only: We run on a traditional three-term timetable, much like schools. This means sessions only occur during term time. So, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the term dates here.
We often split the session into two parts
- The Baking Session run for 20 minutes. We will run through any questions and make suggestions, and suggest the recipes for the weeks ahead in this section and keeping you focused
- Clinic analysis is ONLY open for submission to members who have been baking for 3 months or more. We look at when things go wrong and I am delighted. Why? Because it gives you the opportunity to learn something. Please note that sessions are recorded for students who are on different time zones to watch later in the week.
What is the Clinic?
Can I ask about a user issue in the 8pm session?
No. Absolutely not. This is not the right place for this, and we have lots of ways you can do this. We will not be answering any questions about using the website. If you have a login issue refer to the customer services pages. This session is NOT for user problems and we will not answer them. You can see Vanessa at 4pm on Thursdays if you are having user issues OR preferably refer to the customer services page.
If you are not finding the support you need then it is likely that you are not following the communication procedure. Please see this post.
If you have a small baking query, then please put it on the Club Baking Forum and we will answer it there.
Please note that the Clinics follow an Oxbridge term timetable, and so do not run every week.
What if I missed the session?
The clinic is live and you will need to attend. There are old clinics that are recorded however our members have asked that we do not share the recording of the sessions as often health issues are discussed and they prefer not to be recorded.
NOTE
If you are a beginner, then you really must understand that the Clinic subjects are not always for beginners. It can be overwhelming to find a session with a more advanced baker, and a discussion about the finer details of how to cultivate which bacteria to get a specific crumb structure, but please relax, enjoy the session and know that with time you will also be asking and understanding more complex issues.
It is for all Club members (over 2,000) and our members are at all levels. The Clinic is the opportunity to ask questions, and if you do not understand then you will just have to listen in and enjoy learning. You can ask questions at your own level about that week’s topic ONLY, or simply come back when you have been baking for a few weeks.
